Hi friend, Consciousness is consistent. It permeates everything. In the realm of movement, this is easy to track. From tiny tendrils of cilia that undulate and purr in our fluid matrix to functional movements like getting out of the car to more explosive (also functional) movements like running, jumping, or lifting heavy things…the movement of our consciousness is in it all. It's both particle and wave, and it is everywhere all at once. There’s so much going on that mostly we ignore it…We might not be aware of most of it. Awareness comes when we shift our attention… when we meet the moments and the movements with presence… that’s when we start to realize that this consciousness is everywhere, that it never left us because it never can. It is us. Consciousness is even in our chronic pain and our depression, and in our deep sadness for the world. But that’s another story. This is a spiral-y way to explain why I like to use ‘all the colors of the rainbow’ when I teach, or at least as many as possible: we need both the tiny and the large. With more possible paths, awareness returns faster. Movement is nourished through many vectors. Lemme explain. We are deeply nourished when we play with the movement of our awareness. And larger movements also inform, hydrate, and strengthen the fluid matrix. Micromovements and larger movements are one another’s yin and yang. Each includes seeds of the other. This week’s class will attempt to span some of these gestures. We’ll start with the movement of our awareness to explore how tiny, imperceptible shifts in our visual field can liberate trapped movement patterns. Then we’ll make progressively larger movements, wave motion, and even use light weights: tensional lengthening and compression enliven the tissue. All of this helps us come alive. All of this frees us to become—and notice— the consciousness that we are. 🌀✨🌀 This week's schedule: MELT and More Wednesday, September 9, 3:15-4:15 Eastern on Zoom. Expect reflections on the fascia, somatics, and neurodivergence. Let's take a good look at the web of relationships that connect us from within and without— in the mind and the body, in our communities and in the world.
"When the world feels relentlessly heavy, imagination becomes a refuge—not an escape, but a way of refueling the spirit, of making sense of things.”-- Suleika Jaouad So join me for a few minutes as we go under the sea together… Hi friends, So, fish gotta swim, and so do we. Did you ever think about how fish move?… Like, how do they do that side-to-side motion that moves them through oceans, rivers, and streams…through the liquid, viscous substance that they live and breathe in? Remember...
Hi friends, We'll be doing a deep dive into the side body for Tuesday, March 17's 45-minute MELT and More Class at Noon ET. We'll explore and unwind the lateral line of fascia that starts in your foot and travels all the way up your side body to your jaw! Do you have side-body issues? Does one side always cramp up and hurt? Is there an old injury on one side that's always throwing things off-kilter? Let's see if we can open up this line a bit and get you some ease and flow. You can register...
